Commute is the brainchild of Leo Hills and Tony Innes. Between them they have 40 years experience in the transportation industry and in combining their expertise they can offer their clients a more personalised, collaborative and pragmatic approach to finding transport solutions.
At Commute the goal is to provide transportation services to clients with a focus on personalised service and a collaborative approach to delivering outstanding transport solutions.

Tony has over 20 years experience in the transportation industry and has worked in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
Tony has a diverse transport background including modelling, peer review, transport assessments, transport study leadership, transport procurement advice and providing expert witness for clients.
Most recently Tony has been directly involved in a number of the country's largest transportation projects, including being the Alliance Manager of the Puhoi to Warkworth Planning Alliance and successfully leading this team through the Board of Enquiry process. Tony is currently leading the Alliance through the procurement of this $1billion project for the Transport Agency.
Leo has over 20 years experience in the transportation industry in New Zealand.
Leo has a diverse transport background including transportation assessments, geometric design, modelling, peer review, safety auditing, transport study leadership and providing expert witness at both Council hearings and Environment Court for clients.
Recently Leo has been directly involved in a number of transportation related project on various scales from small scale residential developments through to large scale subdivisions / developments. The range of developments Leo has been involved in include childcare facilities, residential subdivisions (ranging from one lot through to 1000 lot subdivisions), retirement villages, industrial developments, retail developments, office developments and rail / roading / traffic design projects.
Ida has over 17 years’ experience as a civil engineer within the transport sector and has provided high quality transport advice to a wide range of public and private sector clients.
Ida has a detailed understanding of the Business Case process and is able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver coherent and integrated cost-effective, efficient solutions that create safer environments. She is experienced in the development of strategic solutions that deliver smart, efficient, safe and responsible transport choices. She offers innovative solutions to address the transport issues affecting a wide range of development activities, and is particularly focussed on active mode and demand management solutions. Ida is also experienced in the development of strategic transport models using SATURN software, and micro-simulation models using the PARAMICS package.
Ida has acted as an expert witness in support of Integrated Transport Assessments that she has prepared for a range of public and private sector clients.
Graham has over eight years’ experience in the transportation industry in New Zealand. Graham has a unique mixture of both high level transport planning experience and more practical transport engineering experience.
Graham has undertaken a number of high level strategic studies on behalf of the Government; providing assessment of transport and land use, transport modelling and developing strategic thinking. He has been responsible for the development of Business Cases, economic assessment of transport projects and development of corridor strategies.
Graham also has experience in more detailed transport engineering including investigations, scheme and detailed design of intersection and road projects.
Graham has undertaken a number of transport assessments for the private sector of various scales including childcare facilities, residential subdivisions, sports facilities, major retail developments and industrial developments.
Mike has 16 years’ experience in the transportation industry in New Zealand.
Mike has a diverse range of skills within the transport engineering sector providing advice ranging from preliminary structure planning and consenting through to detailed design and construction. Mike frequently undertakes transportation assessments, geometric design, traffic modelling, peer reviews, Road Safety Audits and Construction Traffic Management Plans. Mike has been an expert witness at both Council hearings and the Environment Court.
Recently, Mike has been involved in a number of transportation related projects from small scale residential, retail and office developments through to large scale infrastructure projects.
MEGAN WHEELER - PRINCIPAL TRANSPORT CONSULTANT BE CIVIL (HONS), CMENGNZ, CPENG, INTPE
Megan is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 15 years of transport industry experience and has consulted widely within New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom and Singapore. This international exposure has given Megan a breadth of knowledge of different analysis methods and potential transport solutions.
She has specific expertise in Transport Planning, Project Management, Complex Stakeholder Management, Integrated Transport Assessments and business operations including the development of business cases to support infrastructure spending.
Throughout her career Megan has lead or worked as part of a team on a variety of high profile major transportation projects. These projects have all had very complex stakeholder requirements and each has delivered bespoke transport solutions that focus on prioritising investment and delivering improved people moving capacity in a timely and cost effective manner.
Michelle has over 10 years’ experience in transport planning and traffic engineering. Having worked in both the private and public sector, Michelle delivers a keen understanding project drivers and provides pragmatic solution based advice. She has highly developed interpersonal skills and has extensive experience with stakeholder consultation including general public, Local Boards and public interest groups.
Michelle has a varied background that has included developing both high level strategic transport projects such as Business Cases and Integrated Transport Assessments for the private sector including mixed use developments, plan changes, hospitals and residential developments including aged care facilities. She has also been part of multidisciplinary teams undertaking master planning for large sites. Michelle has acted as an expert witness on behalf of both public and private sector clients.
Josh has over three years’ experience in the transportation industry, having begun his career in 2015. During this time, he has worked on a range of transport planning, transportation feasibility, masterplanning, access, traffic effects assessments and traffic design and safety projects.
Josh has a variety of experience undertaking various assessments within Auckland and New Zealand, and in applying his analytical and decision-making skills to efficiently achieve desired outcomes for clients. Recently, Josh has been involved in a number of transportation related projects from small scale residential, retail and office developments through to large scale infrastructure projects.
HOLLIE YUKICH - SENIOR TRANSPORT CONSULTANT BE CIVIL (HONS)
Hollie has more than 10 years of experience across a wide range of transport assessment and engineering related tasks in both New Zealand and the UK.
Hollie has undertaken master planning, transportation assessments, plan changes, preparation of evidence, intersection design and capacity assessment, car park layout design and parking schemes for a wide range of developments.
Recently, Hollie has been involved in school and education projects, housing subdivisions (including Special Housing Areas) and retail and commercial developments.
Nilu joined the Commute team full time in 2016. She specialises in transportation engineering.
Since joining Commute, Nilu has been involved in various scales of transport assessments and surveys in the private sector including childcares, billboards, residential subdivisions and retail developments. Nilu has also assisted in the development of strategic and programme business cases.
At the 2017 IPENZ Conference Nilu was recognised with two special awards; the 3M Traffic Safety Young Professionals Award and the Best Student Paper Award.
NABI MUSSA - TRANSPORT CONSULTANT BENGTECH (CIVIL)
Nabi joined the Commute team in 2015. He specialises in traffic and transportation engineering.
Whilst at University he won an Engineering Excellence Award and topped his class in transportation papers. Nabi is also proficient in AutoCAD.
Since joining Commute Nabi has undertaken a number of transport assessments for the private sector of various scales; including residential subdivision, childcare facilities and retail and industrial developments.
Ana joined the Commute team full time in 2019, having completed her internship at Commute. She specializes in traffic and transportation engineering.
Ana graduated University with First Class Honors and received a top project award in one of her transportation papers.
Since joining Commute, Ana has undertaken various scales of transportation assessments for the private sector, including small scale residential developments, childcare facilities, retail and industrial developments as well as large scale housing subdivisions.
